The Opportunity
The Logistics & Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all outbound and inbound transportation operations, distribution logistics, and supply chain coordination within a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished goods while maintaining strict adherence to food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
The position plays a critical role in optimizing logistics networks, managing carrier relationships, ensuring on-time delivery, and mitigating operational and compliance risks across the supply chain.
What You’ll Lead
- Plan, schedule, and manage transportation for sales, transfer, and purchase orders, including carrier selection, routing, and multi-stop coordination.
- Coordinate inbound deliveries of raw materials and outbound shipments of finished goods in alignment with production and customer schedules.
- Coordinate and manage all outbound shipments, including rate negotiation with carriers, scheduling pickup and delivery appointments, and responsible for all shipping documentation accuracy (BOLs, Pallets, Placards, etc.)
- Track and trace shipments, proactively identifying delivery risks and communicating updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, 3PL partners, and external storage facilities to ensure reliable and on-time performance.
- Monitor logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, routing compliance, tender acceptance) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review freight costs, rates, and accessorial charges to optimize cost efficiency and ensure financial accuracy.
- Oversee inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and ERP/WMS reporting to support traceability and recall readiness.
- Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and quality teams to align warehouse and transportation priorities.
- Lead or support logistics improvement and cost-savings projects that enhance service levels and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and company standards, including OSHA and handling of food-grade materials.
- Maintain and continuously improve departmental SOPs to strengthen consistency and performance across logistics operations.
- Act as a problem-solver for transportation issues, proposing alternatives, and ensuring minimal operational disruption.
- Manage warehouse and logistics team members (warehouse clerk/drivers), directing daily responsibilities and weekly work schedule.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of logistics, transportation, or warehouse planning experience, ideally within food or beverage manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of food safety, traceability, and warehouse best practices.
- Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset able to think on your feet and adapt in a fast-changing environment.

Work Environment
- Must be able to work full-time, on-site in our facility in Colorado Springs, CO
- Must be able to work in a cold or warm processing environment. Exposure to temperature-controlled environments (refrigerated/freezer areas).
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to work weekends or holidays based on production needs and data reporting for cycle counts.
- This position requires after-hours phone availability to support last-minute truck scheduling and to address any time-sensitive issues
